This months all about you belongs to long time friends of Centaur; Amanda Watson and Robin Finlay. You may know the duo behind Watsons Directories Ltd better as being the sisters behind the phenomenal equestrian search engine The Equestrian Index. A long time cake supplier of ours at exhibitions “The Dangerous Sisters”, as they were once known, have come a long way over the last few years and have recently added equestrianproperty4sale.com to their portfolio.
With the new property portal, www.equestrianproperty4sale.com their horizons have been broadened to include a niche sector that has been historically limited in its ability to reach a target audience, particularly online. By enabling a niche portal for buyers, sellers & lettings of equestrian property, they see huge potential in developing a truly unique & beneficial online service.
Regular attendees at shows and events and always exhibiting a passion for the industry its quite often a case of what these two don’t know really isn’t worth knowing. With a wealth of knowledge between them I put them in the ugly zone when I asked them to tell me…..
What’s so special about your sibling?
Robin had this to say about her sister….
Amanda is passionate about and has been actively involved in the equestrian sector on both a personal and professional level for well over thirty years. Amanda holds a BSc(Hons) Equine Science, is a qualified coach, has managed equestrian facilities in the UK and overseas, lectured to degree level in equestrian subjects, worked in sector development, been industry representative on the National Council for School Sports and supported over 200 hardworking volunteers.
She is never happier than when she is able to offer a genuine solution or new perspective on a business problem and believes that listening, flexibility and a willingness to try something out of the ordinary are key to the strength and longevity of the relationships Watsons forges with its clients. When she is not wearing one of these hats, she can be found brushing mud off her 29 year old gelding William, walking the ‘obedient’ Finn, being deafened by live music and generally appreciating the finer things in life – perhaps not to be expanded upon here!
Amanda came back with this….
Robin has worked in a variety of roles including marketing, corporate hospitality, sales and the fitness industry. With a keen interest in networking and social interaction, she brings key skills to the equestrian sector to help improve business 2 business communication and drive sales to the consumer sector through consistency. In the office, she can usually be found on the phone chatting to clients, fielding press releases or keeping up to date with the latest SEO and Social media trends – and then consistently doing the right thing! – no tweet deck in our office!
Outside the office she can be found dashing around in the Welsh hills or taking part in a Triathlon. She is also a skilled taxi driver to her 2 children and occasionally sees her husband too!
Well known for their active social media presence, where amongst their many equestrian posts they share their love of all things cake. The wonderful team run fantastic monthly competitions and even find time to create a great newsletter as well! The Equestrian Index really brings the equestrian industry bang up to date for the next generation of riders, competitors and business owners and is easily the go to place for everything Equestrian.
When asked what makes it so good? Robin replied;
“The Equestrian Index provides the largest collection of equestrian business information in the world (we are pretty confident about this!) It is a free to use resource for anyone involved with horses in either their work or leisure activities.”
Thank you to both Amanda and Robin for their time and images. If you want to see more or find out what they can do for you find out here.
